What Cars Would Benefit From Fischer Brand Classic Car 20w50 Motor oil?

Our product is recommended for all Classic and Collector Cars, Special Interest Automobile and Motorcycle Engines built prior to 1993 and/or ran without catalytic converters. Fischer Brand Classic Car Motor oil may shorten the life of a catalytic converter by coating the active substrate with phosphorous.

Should I use Fischer Brand Classic car Motor oil in my engine that has been using Non-Detergent oil?

Why Was Fischer Brand Classic Car Motor Oil developed?

Our product is not recommend for an engine that has been using non-detergent oil. When early engines (prior to 1954) were new, oil filters were an accessory item and non-detergent oil was the type of oil used . Original, unrestored engines have most likely been run on non-detergent oil. If you are running an early unrestored engine that is not spotlessly clean internally, it is imperative to continue to run it on non-detergent oil. Otherwise there is the risk of damage to the engine. However if that engine has been rebuilt our product is more than acceptable.

In 2002 we developed this product specifically to help cure wear problems that a restoration customer was having with a classic car. Our customer was seeing signs of scuffing and cam lobe wear on a classic car engine with flat tappets. This problem was being caused by the reduction of zinc in newer motor oils. We formulated our Classic Car Motor Oil to help deal with these problems which resulted from government mandated new air quality standards that caused automakers to equip cars with more stringent catalytic converters. It is this reduction in zinc (ZDDP) that has benefited newer cars at the expense of older cars.

Fisher Brand Classic Car Motor Oil is a Multi-Grade oil. How does Fischer Brand Classic Car Motor Oil compare to Mono Grade?

Our multi-grade oil is thinner at start up allowing the oil to flow rapidly to wear points. Beyond 100 degrees centigrade, our oil retains its viscosity better than Mono-Grade oil. Fischer Brand Classic Car Motor Oil contains high quality viscosity modifiers. Viscosity modifiers keep the oil thicker at high temperatures. Inexpensive and many moderately priced oils do not contain high quality viscosity modifiers.

Can I use a ZDDP additive in my existing oil?

You can, however, you won't know your end product. Fischer Brand Classic Car Motor Oil was formulated in precise quantities to optimize performance in a vintage engine by petroleum engineers at one of the largest independent motor oil blenders on the west coast.
